Renewable Energy
“.. If we do not take action to solve the environmental crisis,
it could indeed threaten the future of human civilization..”
AL GORE
Human history has never witnessed such a universal threat as presented by global warming. No living being can escape its effects, and many animal and plant species have already become extinct with an additional one million species, according to Time Magazine, facing the real threat of extinction by 2050. Other discernable manifestations include extreme and unpredictable weather patterns, rising sea levels, drought, scarcity of food, the melting of the polar ice caps, increased risk of disease and death through pollution. Humanity is faced with a common problem that requires immediate and urgent collective action. Whilst consciousness and technology evolve gradually, we believe that the work to must begin today, ranging from individuals partaking in recycling to inter-government co-operation providing legislation and financial incentives for organisations, to develop and implement systems reducing carbon emissions, whilst producing innovative energy solutions. The global population explosion has led to a massive demand for energy. The International Energy Agency predicts that by 2030, energy demands will more than double. As conventional, polluting, energy sources such as oil and coal deplete rapidly and at a faster rate than new sources are being discovered, the need to find alternative, sustainable, independent, environmentally friendly sources of energy has never been greater.
The time has come for the world to embrace renewable energy. The mass implementation of alternative energy initiatives will continue to reduce the initial set-up costs of renewable energy solutions. The benefits of introducing energy through wind, solar, biomass, hydro, and other renewable sources are many, including:
Unlimited sources of energy
Self-dependency by reducing reliance on fossil fuels
Environmentally clean, sustainable energy
Predicable sources of power generation eg wind/solar
Renewable energy is available and can be implemented globally, using land, sea and air
Non-excludability of energy – This means even the poorest can benefit from natural sources of energy
The time to act is now. Tomorrow will be too late!
